The official Humback whale-watching season commences on December 8, and ends on March 23. Whale watching is regulated by the Mexican authorities. Gilbert’s list of whale-watching tour providers mentions only those operators who participate in cooperative scientific research and whale-fluke identification on Banderas Bay, and whose operations abide by the official whale-watching regulations of the Mexican government.
