Beaches of PUERTO VALLARTA AND Banderas Bay

ABOUT THE BEACHES:

Banderas Bay has 34 miles of coastline and numerous individual beaches. North of Puerto Vallarta, in the state of Nayarit, the beaches tend to be wider, longer, flatter as the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains are located farther back from the ocean. In the state of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta boasts a wonderful series of beaches that are heavily frequented by locals and vacationers alike as there are numerous activities and amenities surrounding these beach areas that specifically cater to visitors. South of Puerto Vallarta, rugged majestic outcroppings of mountain and rock punctuate the sand and sea along various sections of the stunning coastline.  Here you will find small coves, tiny intimate beaches, deeper water, and fewer people.

From north to south, and including Sayulita which is just north around the bend from Punta de Mita, the following is a list of the some of the loveliest beaches of Banderas Bay. This section does not cover every single beach in the area, but instead the focus is to highlight some of the most popular beaches favored by tourists. We also include a few beaches just outside of the bay which are easy drive from Puerto Vallarta.
