MALA BEADS IN PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO
Faith Colectiva is a beautiful little store! I had the delightful opportunity to speak with Faith Colectiva founder Katie Coleman. She is such a friendly, spiritual and uplifting person. She and her team use natural stones, crystals, gems and charms to produce Mala Beads and accessories that have inherent properties and good energy that can create a magical experience for the wearer.

ABOUT KATIE AND FAITH COLECTIVA
A decade ago Katie came to Puerto Vallarta on an intensive meditation. During her retreat she noticed that many participants were wearing gorgeous mala beads. She really admired these beads as they were of colors representing the chakra. And those specific chakra colors possess great healing powers! Here are her words about mala beads and how to use them: “Mala beads consist of 108 seeds or beads that you wear around your neck during meditation. Your fingers turn 1 bead at a time, as you say a “mantra” (a gratitude word), or a prayer. Malas help to quiet the mind. This is the start of going into meditation. It is incredible to realize that malas came about in 400 BC. Rosary beads came after the mala. Even at that time, people were stressed, and needed to calm down. They used malas to help.”
Through others, Katie ended up meeting a wonderful local woman who was a fantastic artisan and shared her vision. And they were delighted to find that that other women also resonated with her their work! This inspired them to open up a store and name it “Faith Colectiva.” They sell products made by local women in Puerto Vallarta who receive a fare wage for their work. They also sell other products from Mexico and Latin America. All of the women who are a part of Faith Colectiva believe deeply in what they are doing and produce beautiful high-quality work.
In addition to their location in Puerto Vallarta, they have a store in Canada and five stores in the USA. You can now order their lovely products online: www.ladyfaith.net. On Saturdays you can also find them at the Saturday Market Co-opat the Paradise Community Center on Pulpita 127, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
